The Government of the State of Osun is organising an interactive session for selected older persons in the State to commemorate the 2017 International Day of Older Persons, tomorrow Tuesday, 14th November, 2017.
A statement by the Commissioner, Ministry of Social Protection, Sports and Special Needs, Comrade Biyi Odunlade stated that the programme was put in place by the State Government as a way to identifying with older persons in the State and to give them a sense of belonging.
The statement added that, there would be motivational talk on the theme of the celebrations which is ‘’Stepping into the Future: Tapping the Talents, Contributions and Participation of Older Persons in Society’’ which would be delivered by Mrs Margaret Oluyamo, a seasoned public commentator from the Anglican Bishop’s Court, Ijebu-Jesa while Dr. Olakunle Olarewaju, a Senior Lecturer/ Consultant, Public Health Physician of the Department of Community Medicine, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo would give a health talk on the topic: Old Age Diseases: Prevention and Cure.
The programme which would take place at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs, New Secretariat, has medical check-up, motivational health talk as well as distribution of souvenir to the older persons as part of activities laid down for the celebrations which starts at 10.00am prompt.
